College students set up at the Plaza

If you’re in and around Pakuranga Plaza this Saturday, stop by, say hello and do a bit of shopping at Pakuranga College’s market day.

Located outside Farmers from 9am-3pm on June 10, three teams of enthusiastic year 12 business students will be offering various products to the public.

It’s part of a Level 2 Business Studies internal requiring students to develop and carry out a business activity within a community context, as well as create a business plan and an extensive market research plan.

Before and After produces and sells bath bombs and organic moisturisers. The group, led by Daniel Tolmie, is supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation by making specific breast cancer bath bombs of which they will donate a quarter of the profit towards.

Led by Mina Hong, BOTTO is in the business of creating handmade DIY bottles in different ranges of theme and colour orbeez. BOTTO provides fresh and unique, stylish, DIY home decoration for indoor and outdoor gardening that will make your home look sweet and fresh.

BOTTO is also fundraising for charity, pledging to donate five per cent of profits to SPCA to support the protection of animals.

Lastly, Pallet Coasters offers unique, colourful and creative pallet coasters. A percentage of the Pallet Coasters profit from market days will be donated to the Manukau East Council of Social Services.

Student Te Haua Taua, who is the marketing and communications manager of Pallet Coasters, said the challenges have been an exciting opportunity to develop new skills.
