The annual Bookarama has begun

A group of eager booklovers were up bright and early this morning to be the first ones through the door of this year’s Bookarama.

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Howick, Bookarama will be on until Sunday October 14 with thousands of pre-loved books for sale in the basement of the Howick RSA on Wellington Street.

Melissa Bather, a regular at Howick Rotary’s annual Bookarama, takes a shining to her favourite author’s books as she gathers up as many Stephen King novels as she can carry.

All books have been donated from the overflowing bookcases of Howick residents who are eager to see the books they no longer read go to new owners. There are also a great selection of DVDs, CDs and puzzles.

This year Bookarama is also going to be plastic-free so shoppers are encouraged to bring their own carry bags.

The proceeds from Bookarama will go back into a number of community projects.

  • Open Wednesday to Saturday 9 am to 5pm. Sunday 9am to 3pm, Howick RSA basement, Wellington Street, Howick.
