The Howick Orchid Society Spring Show this month had an incredible response, as people turned up in droves to admire, judge and buy orchids.

“The commercial growers were very delighted as they sold out everything and so did we, at the table put up by the Howick Orchid Society,” says Anton Wehman, president of the Howick Orchid Society.

There were more than 200 entries and every person at the show was given two slips to vote on the `best orchid plant’ and the `best display’.

The first and second prize was won by Ross and Susan Tucker for the beautiful Cattleya Orchids which stole people’s hearts.

Ken Chui Tse won third prize for the magnificent Angraecum Orchid.

Howick Orchid Society won first prize for `best display’, NZ Orchid Society took second place and Waitakere Orchid Society were third in the display category.
