Several police units were seen in the area around Botany Town Centre today, many with lights and sirens on, and an Eagle helicopter hovered around the town centre.
According to a Police spokesperson,
“A Police unit observed a vehicle being driven at excess speed on the Southern Motorway near Drury just after midday.
The vehicle was not pursued but was instead monitored and was later observed by the Police Eagle helicopter near Highbrook.
It has exited the motorway and continued to be monitored from above. Eagle has continued to coordinate with ground units on the vehicle’s location.
The vehicle was later abandoned in an underground car park at The Hub commercial complex in Botany.
Police are in the area making inquiries to locate the driver and is being assisted by Eagle helicopter.”
