Independent Botany MP Jami-Lee Ross appeared in the Auckland High Court this morning (July 8) for a pre-trial review hearing on charges related to the National Party donation scandal.
Jointly-accused, businessmen Yikun Zhang, 48, Shijia (Colin) Zheng, 34, and Hengjia (Joe) Zheng, 34, also appeared this morning.
Justice Simon Moore set a trial date for September 6, 2021, it is expected to take at least 6 weeks.
The charges stem from an accusation by Ross against his former National Party leader, Simon Bridges
A subsequent SFO investigation resulted in charges being laid against Mr Ross. He has pleaded not guilty to two charges of deception under the crimes act and one of ‘providing false or misleading information’ under the Serious Fraud Office Act.
