Alcohol ban

Working closely with the Howick Business Association, Auckland Council’s operations team has installed four new alcohol ban signs within the Howick Village.

The business association and contractors worked together to determine the best locations to erect the signage.

With strict bylaws in place, the signs will enable enforcement if required and provide the public with correct information.

Macleans Park paths

Works are currently under way at Macleans Park, between Charles Dickens Drive and Macleans Road, to renew park paths and culverts that have had ongoing drainage issues.

Works are being undertaken in approximately 40m sections to keep disruption to pedestrians at a minimum. Everything is progressing well with some sections of the path completed.

Scoping is under way for the renewal and reinstatement of the pathway from Quedley Court along the rear boundary of the Quedley Court houses.

This path links up with the path from Oliver Road which then runs down to the beach.

Sprucing up buildings

Howick Local Board has been allocated part of the region-wide OPEX programme budget to fully repaint the Howick Children’s and Youth Theatre building in Granger Road.

This project will be undertaken this financial year (2021/2022) and progress will be reported to the local board as it develops.

The refurbishment of the Old Flat Bush School hall has recently commenced.

This will include roof replacement, window joinery, cladding repairs and painting.

All works are undertaken with due consideration given to the Heritage status of the building.

A heritage architect has been engaged to provide the building paint colour scheme.

Works are expected to take three months, taking into consideration weather at this time of the year.

Dog park feedback

Thank you to all who provided feedback on a proposed dog park for Macleans Park.

The feedback period closed on July 26 and all material is now being considered by the project team who report the analysis of the consultation back to the local board.
