The Pohutukawa Coast has been alive with the fluttering of wildlife over lockdown.
From colourful birds to families of stingrays, locals have been snapping pictures and appreciating the region’s animals on their daily strolls.
One local, Glen Fitzgerald, spotted dolphins on the shores of Maraetai Beach on August 30. There was another sighting on September 13. A more recent sighting at Bucklands Beach was shared on social media.
Kerry Johnson was at Pine Harbour and shared a video of a mum and baby stingray in the water on September 12.
Locals reported that they’ve seen the stingrays several times previously.
On September 30, Emily May reported she’d seen Kaka twice in one week in Maraetai.
Another local, Don Bruce, has been sharing beautiful captures of various birds in Beachlands, including Kingfishers and Tui.
