World Schools Sevens Aotearoa has announced that RSM New Zealand has become a new principal partner for the next tournament over the weekend of January 22-23, 2022 at Pakuranga United Rugby Club.

The premier U18 boys and girls’ sevens rugby festival began in 2016, growing to draw 32 teams from across the globe to Auckland by 2019 and quickly became the pinnacle event for sevens youth in world rugby.

After a Covid-19 impacted 2020 event, 2021 will only feature teams from New Zealand despite a lot of interest from offshore, particularly Australia. However, the NZ Rugby-endorsed tournament remains the ultimate drawcard for aspiring sevens talent from across the country.

RSM is part of a global network in the accounting and auditing sector, with a growing footprint in Auckland, with a focus primarily on small-to-medium sized businesses.

Their support of the World Schools Sevens Aotearoa will enable the event to build an important platform for 2021, with exciting growth plans ahead as sevens continues to grow off the back of Commonwealth and Olympic Games visibility.

“At RSM we’re passionate about seeing young people achieve their dreams and we want to support their growth and development,” says partner Carl Cachopa, an accomplished sportsperson in his own right having represented NZA, Central Districts and Auckland in cricket.

“World Schools Sevens is an ideal event for us to increase the awareness of RSM, but also it aligns with our values as a company, to build confidence for the future. We do that through our business insights, knowledge and expertise with our clients, and World Schools Sevens does it for aspiring sevens players,” says Cachopa.

Tournament director Phil Gaze is thrilled to welcome RSM to the event.

“We are excited to announce that RSM New Zealand have become a principal partner of the 2022 World School Sevens. The partnership will assist in the growth and development of the event and help take it to another level.

“It will also see RSM assist outside the tournament with a few of the elite athletes receiving financial and budgetary advice,” says Gaze.

World Schools Sevens is broadcast live over both days on Sky TV.
