The Pakuranga Athletic Club returned with a haul of medals from the NZ Athletics Championships at Porritt Stadium in Hamilton last weekend.
In fine conditions 1st place finishes were achieved by Theo Quax who followed up from his gold medal of last year with another in the U20 men 1500m, Ebuka Okpala [senior men triple jump] and Michael McElwee [Under 20 men 10k race walk].
Further podium results included Theo Quax [2nd under 20 men 4 x 400m relay], Rochelle Coster [2nd – senior women 4 x 100m relay], Peter Wheeler [3rd – senior men 1500m] and in a classy senior men 1500m field, Olympian Ryan Sissons ran well for 3rd, with Peter Wheeler 5th and the evergreen Jonny McKee 8th.

Macleans College student Kamal Patwalia, running for the Papakura Club, had a clutch of good results in the under 20 men’s grade including a 2nd place in the 100m, 3rd in the 4 x 100m relay and 4th in the long jump.
