Back by popular demand, Cathay Pacific is bringing its free outdoor cinema experience to the BNZ Auckland Lantern Festival, staged at the Manuaku Sports Bowl from February 13-16.

The company says to celebrate the Year of the Snake, its family-friendly outdoor cinema will “delight festivalgoers with complimentary popcorn and entertainment under the stars”.

New this year, Cathay Pacific is offering an exclusive upgrade option where guests can reserve a VIP experience in advance, adding an extra touch of comfort to their Lantern Festival outing.

A highlight of the BNZ Lantern Festival, the Cathay Pacific inflight-style cinema experience will screen family-friendly Disney shorts on the big screen.

Screenings will start on the hour throughout the festival.

The free popcorn stand will be available for all to enjoy, in the cosy, outdoor cinema.

For the first time, Cathay Pacific is offering a VIP upgrade to festivalgoers.

For just $70 (or use Asia Miles), people can reserve exclusive use of the VIP area for up to five guests for that hourʼs session.

Each VIP booking includes access to a private, comfortable viewing area with five beanbags and popcorn delivery.

The upgrade also includes an exclusive Cathay Pacific goodie bag filled with branded merchandise and exciting gifts, such as a travel coffee cup, a classic passport holder, the ultimate gadget pouch and more.

The VIP option ensures a premium, private way to enjoy the Lantern Festival cinema experience.

Return economy flights for two to Hong Kong, departing from Auckland, are up for grabs. Festivalgoers will have the chance to enter the competition by visiting the Cathay Pacific activation at the festival.

As part of its presence at the festival this year, Cathay Pacific will also be showcasing a striking hero lantern display in celebration of the Year of the Snake.

This striking, larger-than-life snake lantern is sure to capture the attention of festivalgoers, creating the perfect backdrop for photos and memories.

The Lantern Festival is on from 3pm-10pm on Thursday and Friday, with extended hours from 1pm-10pm on the weekend, at the Manukau Sports Bowl on Te Irirangi Drive.

For the first time this year the festival is a free-ticketed event. To book, go online to www.universe.com.

All tickets include free travel on Auckland Transport services. Entry is free, and children under five years old do not require a ticket.
