One of the great Christmas music traditions in Howick plays out this Sunday evening with the Carols by Candlelight free public event.
The concert starring Howick’s treasured musical institution, Howick Brass, encourages east Aucklanders to attend and singalong to and picnic.
It’s staged at its usual venue, on Stockade Hill, with the music performances starting around 8.15pm on December 15.
Howick Brass suggests people should get there early and enjoy the park setting especially if it’s a balmy summer evening.
The band also promises that the music programme will contain everyone’s favourite Christmas tunes and hymns, with a setlist of songs presently numbering in the early 20s.
The Times has seen an early version of the musical programme and can confirm that Christmas music fans will not be disappointed and that there may be surprises in store with a guest vocalist or two.
Carols by Candlelight, on Sunday, December 15, at Stockade Hill, Howick, is scheduled to start at about 8.15pm and finish around 10pm.
