A special Lunar New Year event being held by Auckland’s Korean community is staged this weekend.
The east Auckland-based Korean Positive Ageing Charitable Trust is inviting the public to “celebrate the Lunar New Year with us as we welcome the Year of the Snake”.
The Lunar New Year Celebration Korean Day is at Te Puke Otara Community Centre, 20 Newbury Street, Otara, on Saturday, February 1, from 11am to 2pm.
It’s free to enter and organisers says there will be plenty of entertainment and activities to enjoy and take part in, and tasty cuisine to sample.
“What to expect – vibrant live performances, delicious Korean food, and fun cultural activities for all ages and much more,” say organisers.
Activities include traditional Korean games, Hanbok – Korean dress experience, and calligraphy – “have your name written in Korean”.
