Movies in Parks starts next month

The Auckland Council’s free-to-attend Movies in Parks programme kicks off next month.

There are eight Movies in Parks events across the Auckland region from February 21 to March 15, though there is no film screening in the Howick and Franklin wards.

“We’re putting on a free movie under the stars for the whole neighbourhood,” says the Movies in Parks crew.

“Pack a picnic or grab a bite from one of the food trucks and enjoy the pre-movie entertainment.

“Then settle in with friends and whānau to watch The War with Grandpa, Wonka, Coco, The Mountain and more.

“Plus, we’ve got something special lined up but it’s a surprise. Just check back at our website moviesinparks.co.nz from March 1.”

The nearest screening to east Auckland of a Movie in Parks film this upcoming season is We Bought a Zoo at Glover Park, Glover Road, St Heliers, on Friday, March 7, at 6.15pm to 10.30pm, with pre-movie entertainment from 6.15pm, movie from 8.15pm, and is staged by the Ōrākei Local Board.

The movie Dolittle is at Monte Cecilia Park, 72A Hillsborough Road, Royal Oak, on Saturday, March 1, at 6.20pm-10.15pm, put on by the Puketāpapa Local Board.

A screening of Coco, presented by the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board, is at Ngāti Ōtara Park, 100 Ōtara Road, Ōtara, on Saturday, March 8, 6.15pm-10pm.

The movie The War with Grandpa rolls at Central Park, Ōpāheke Road, Papakura, on Saturday, March 15, 6pm-9.45pm, put on by the Papakura Local Board.
