Howick Little Theatre’s 2025 season features an electrifying line-up of comedy, drama, mystery, and heartfelt storytelling.

With five captivating productions spanning a range of styles and emotions, the programme promises unforgettable theatrical experiences for audiences of all tastes.

Opening the season is Renovations for Six, written by Norm Foster and directed by Andrew Johnson.

“This fast-paced comedy brings together three couples at various crossroads in their lives for what should be a simple dinner party but quickly spirals into a whirlwind of misunderstandings, secrets, and hilariously awkward moments,” the theatre says.

“With Foster’s signature wit and sharp observations on relationships, this play kicks off the year with boundless energy and laughter.”

Renovations for Six opened on February 22 and plays until March 15.

Next, audiences will be drawn into the intrigue of The Case of the Frightened Lady by Bill Scott. Directed by Penel Keegan, it plays from May 3-24.

“This fresh take on the classic whodunnit follows bestselling author Edgar Wallace as he scrambles to meet a looming publishing deadline.

“Enlisting his household in the chaos of crafting a new mystery, he soon finds the lines between reality and fiction blurring in an unpredictable and thrilling ride.”

Christopher Durang’s Tony Award-winning Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike takes the stage next under the direction of Tracey Holdsworth from July 5-26.

A hilarious and heartfelt comedy that blends high-energy humour with emotional depth, the play follows three adult siblings as they navigate family tensions, midlife crises, and unexpected twists.

With a clever nod to Chekhov, the production is sure to delight lovers of witty, contemporary theatre.

The season then takes a deeply moving turn, from September 6-27, with Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire, directed by Anna Baird.

“Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the poignant exploration of grief, resilience, and human connection offers a powerful theatrical experience that lingers long after the lights dim.

“Audiences can expect an emotionally rich and thought-provoking performance.”

Closing out the year, from November 8-29, is Many Happy Returns by Bernard Farrell, directed by Matthew Cousins.

Set in Ireland against the backdrop of a seemingly idyllic Christmas gathering, this darkly comic examination of secret aspirations, financial schemes, and long-buried resentments will leave audiences both laughing and reflecting on the complexities of human relationships.

Howick Little Theatre president Laurie Mills says: “Our play selection team spends months curating a programme that balances humour, intrigue, and emotional depth.

“Over the years, we’ve built a loyal audience who trust us to deliver high-quality productions, and we’re incredibly excited for what 2025 has in store.”

From riotous comedy to spine-tingling mystery to deeply moving drama, Howick Little Theatre’s 2025 season promises an exhilarating journey through life’s ups and downs, brought to life by an outstanding group of creative teams.
