Based on the hit podcast Boomtown by Christian Wallace, this drama series stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a ‘landman’ for a US oil company. It’s described as being set amongst the rough and ready oilfields of West Texas where “roughnecks and wildcat billionaires are fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, economy and geopolitics”. The series also stars Jon Hamm, of Mad Men fame, and Demi Moore.

Most Kiwis will be familiar with the tragic story of British backpacker Grace Millane, who vanished during a trip to New Zealand in 2018 and the subsequent high-profile trial of her killer Jesse Kempson. This documentary is directed by Helena Coan and centres on the police investigation of Kempson and his lawyers’ unsuccessful use of the “rough sex defence” to have him acquitted after he revealed he’d put Millane’s lifeless body into a suitcase, which he buried in the Waitakere Ranges in West Auckland.
