Electricity lines company Vector has explained why the lights went out twice on Sunday evening in a small east Auckland coastal suburb.

There were two unexpected power cuts in Farm Cove, near Pakuranga and Half Moon Bay, on September 22.

“Around 5.15pm yesterday, high voltage fuses blew on Davita Place in Farm Cove, causing a small, localised power outage,” a Vector spokesperson told the Times.

“The fuses were replaced and power restored around 7.30pm.

“There was an issue with the replacement fuses, which caused the power to go out for a second time.

“Crews carried out repairs and power was restored again at 9.20pm.

“We understand that power outages are frustrating and apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused,” Vector says.
