New playgroup set up in Burswood

Burswood’s newest playgroup is perfect for mums and bubs keen for some morning entertainment to end the week.

The playgroup runs for two hours starting at 9:30am on Friday mornings and started on February 17.

Organiser Ruth Richardson, who is a Singaporean immigrant, said she wanted to start a group that catered for the needs of the Burswood community.

She said feedback indicated there weren’t enough playgroups in the area, particularly for locals who wanted a place they could safely walk to.

“For us, when we started this we really wanted to reach out to the community of Burswood and cater for them.

“It’s about meeting new friends in a warm and caring environment… and connecting with people.”

Sponsored by The LifeGrowth Community Trust of East City Wesleyan church, the multicultural group offers free play, mat time with stories and music, story time and craft time, with an activity related to a theme and morning tea for parents.

ECW Senior Minister Rev Dr Richard Waugh says he is excited about what the group offers for parents in the community.

“The play group is an excellent new resource for the Botany community, very welcoming with a capable leadership. Ruth and team are committed to supporting mums and younger children.”
