The brand new boutique reformer Pilates studio in the heart of Howick is a dream come true for local business owner Stephanie Mansfield.

Located next to Wild Wheat, Reformer Works officially opens today, August 5.

Stephanie says she has wanted to own a reformed Pilates studio since opening Flex Fitness Howick more than two years ago with business partner Ian Charlton.

“I lived in Australia for a few years where reformer Pilates was huge. I knew it would also become more popular in New Zealand and it has for very good reason,” Stephanie says.

Reformer Pilates is low impact, and focuses on strengthening muscles while improving flexibility, coordination and posture through controlled movements.

The exercises are completed using a specially designed machine called a reformer bed.

Stephanie and her team have worked hard over the past eight weeks to re-fit and prepare the studio space.

Located next to Wild Wheat, Reformer Works officially opens today, August 5.

She said her staff will provide a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone regardless of fitness level, or age can achieve their goals.

Reformer Works staff enjoyed celebrating their opening with family, friends and local business owners on Thursday night.

The studio was also open throughout the weekend with tours, introductions and free trials.

Studio manager Eli Hackney-Rose who has several years’ experience in the Pilates space, is new to Howick.

Originally from the United Kingdom he says he can already feel the sense of community in Howick, and he looks forward to helping locals achieve their fitness goals.
