
Students of Somerville Intermediate School are having a trial run for the opening of a new school cafe to be run by the students.
The official launch of Kawhe Hui (The Meeting Cafe) and the blessing ceremony will be held today at noon.

The young chefs studying food technology will be serving rustic pizzas with complementary vegetables, salad or fruit ($5). Rustic Pizzas on the menu include margherita, hawaiian, meat lovers and vegetarian pizzas. Diners can order a side of kumara chips and tempura covered potato wedges for an extra $2.
No fizzy drinks will be served at the cafe. The only drink on sale is chilled milk for $1 or a banana smoothie (with no added sugar) for $2 a pop.
Food Technology teacher Debbie Thorpe who has initiated the idea says that the cafe that can accommodate 20 people at a time on Friday at lunchtime. It has already been fully booked for the practice runs.
