Golfers are being called to sign-up for an east Auckland tournament that’s collecting money for the St John Ambulance service.

The Rotary Club of Pakuranga’s charity golf tournament for St John Hato Hone is at Whitford Park Golf Club on Friday, May 2, with play swinging into action at midday.

Alan Davies, of Pakuranga Rotary, says the fun competition is “to raise funds towards life-saving equipment and ambulances for the St John organisation”.

The entry fee per player is $130, for a maximum field of 100, and food is included.

The golf tournament will have men’s and women’s fields playing in gross, nett, and stableford competitions.

Davies says there’ll be a large table of prizes worth about $9000 of auction items and for raffles.

He says the reasons are clear about why Pakuranga Rotary is supporting St John Hato Hone.

“St John provides ambulance services to 90 per cent of New Zealanders.

“Approximately only 80 per cent of their budget is currently funded by Health NZ and ACC.

“As a charity, St John must raise around $50 million this coming year to fill this funding deficit,” says Davies.

“St John relies on the generosity of organisations and individuals in the community to enable them to continue to provide its services.”

  • Those wanting to enter the Rotary Club of Pakuranga’s golf tournament fundraiser, with the lead sponsor being Harcourts Landed Real Estate, in aid of St John Hato Hone, can phone Alan Davies on 021 535 556 or Dennis Kavanagh on 0273 022 377, or email abdavies@xtra.co.nz.
