A positive attitude, hard work and commitment are the key to one local Pageant Queen’s success.

Dannemora resident Simran Madan recently represented New Zealand on the international stage in the Philippines at Miss Teen Tourism 2019.

She was crowned Miss Teen Tourism Globe 2019 in the show-stopping pageant last month.

She was also named Best in Talent and Miss Punta Tierra Blanca Beach Resort.

The university student says pageantry for her is a way of expressing herself.

“One of the most important things that I have learnt through my journey in pageantry is you have to believe in yourself, be confident in who you are, and value what you have,” she says.

Simran first began her pageant journey when she competed in the Miss Earth New Zealand 2019 competition.

Her driving force was her belief that the earth is precious and that we must all work together to protect and respect it, she says.

She was crowned Miss Teen Earth New Zealand 2019, and Miss Water New Zealand 2019 whilst also winning the titles of Best in Talent, Miss Congeniality and Best in Evening Gown.

Being crowned meant that Simran would fly half way across the world to represent New Zealand in the Philippines last month.

Photoshoots, media conferences, forums and fashion shows were on the agenda and Simran made it her mission to show the world what it truly means to be a Kiwi.

Simran says she will continue to strive to represent New Zealand on the world stage.
