Emergency services were called to a car accident in Maraetai on October 6.
Police say emergency services were notified of the incident in Maraetai Coast Road at about 4.50pm.
Local residents say they heard sirens from fire appliances at about 5pm.
The vehicle involved had gone off the road and onto rocks.
The driver was out of the car and had minor injuries, police say.
A tow truck was called to retrieve the car.
Firemen acted as go/stop men for incoming and outgoing traffic.
