Christmas wishing tree appeal to launch

Kmart’s Australia and New Zealand CEO John Gualtieri.

Kmart will tomorrow launch its annual New Zealand Wishing Tree Appeal, with founding charity partner, The Salvation Army.

This year the need for the Appeal – its 29th year running – is even greater than ever-before, as many Kiwis face cost-of-living pressures such as increased electricity, fuel and food prices, as well as rising interest rates causing financial strain on many individuals and families, Kmart said.

Kmart’s Wishing Tree Appeal aims to create a brighter Christmas and New Year for members of the community who are experiencing hardship through the delivery of gifts to Kiwis in need right across the country. This year’s theme ‘Small Gift, Big Heart’, calls on the community to come together and contribute what they can by dropping o a new gift under the Wishing Tree at any Kmart store or by making a monetary contribution in-store or online.

A Wishing Tree ribbon cutting, roving Santa, face painting and Wishing Tree Christmas Crafts will mark the start of the appeal tomorrow. Shieldy from The Salvation Army will also be in attendance.

– 10:10am Wishing Tree ribbon cutting
– from 10:15am – 2pm Wishing Tree Christmas Crafts, roving Santa, face painting
