From the way she was being mobbed, it was easy to see that everyone loves Princess Poppy, the toy sensation and star of the movie Trolls which screened at Lloyd Elsmore Park on Saturday evening.

Thousands of people turned up for Movie in Parks and couldn’t stop hugging and getting photographs with the life-size Princess Poppy doll that was to be awarded to the winner of the Times Princess Poppy Drawing competition.

Fortunately David Collings, chair of Howick Local Board, had bought not one but two Princess Poppy trolls all the way from Australia to be awarded to the winner of the Times drawing competition.

Publisher of Times Newspapers Reay Neben made two young girls really happy. Both eight-year-old Katelyn Stevenson and 10-year-old Jude Clayton were absolutely thrilled as their names were announced at the event and were presented with one pink princess each.

Children shortlisted in the drawing competition were also awarded story books.

The last we heard, Jude is the envy of all her friends and hasn’t left the Princess Poppy alone for a minute as she carries her precious prize around 24/7.
