An investigation is under way to determine the circumstances that led to a fatal road crash in east Auckland on October 11.
A police spokesperson says a person died following a serious crash involving two vehicles on Highbrook Drive in East Tamaki at about 6.20am.
“Sadly one person has died at the scene,” police say.
“Another person in the vehicle has been taken to hospital in a serious condition, while their passenger sustained moderate injuries.”
Counties Manukau Police’s serious crash investigation unit attended the scene and part of Highbrook Drive was closed to motorists while the area was examined.
Diversions were put in place and motorists were advised to take an alternative route or avoid the area if possible.
A spokesperson for St John Ambulance says its paramedics were called to the crash at 6.21am.
“One ambulance, one rapid response unit, and one manager responded to the scene.
“St John treated one patient in a serious condition and one patient in a moderate condition, and transported them both to Middlemore Hospital.”
