Police have confirmed the driver of a vehicle that crashed into an east Auckland building last night has died.
The driver was the sole occupant of the car, which collided with a building near the intersection of Cook Street and Picton Street in Howick just before 6.30pm on March 14.
Police are now making enquiries into the incident on behalf of the coroner.
Last night a police spokesperson said emergency services were in attendance at the serious crash.
The driver was initially reported to be in a critical condition and the Police Serious Crash Unit was deploying to the scene.
Cook Street was closed to allow a scene examination while motorists were advised to use alternative routes to access Howick Village.
A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John says it was notified of a motor vehicle incident in Howick at 6.23pm last night.
It responded with three ambulances, one rapid response unit, and one manager to the scene.
“Our crews were not required for transportation.”
