One person has died as a result of a serious crash in Clevedon, south Auckland, this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Clevedon Kawakawa Bay Road around 8.40am.
The male driver of one of the vehicles was trapped for a time and a helicopter was called, but the male was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road is closed while the Police Serious Crash unit investigates, and is expected to remain closed for several hours.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and the Kaiaua Coastal Highway if possible.
The road is closed at the McNicol/Clevedon Kawakawa intersection, and the Kawakawa Bay/Turei intersection.
