Police descended on a quiet east Auckland shopping precinct today, September 3, following reports of a man displaying concerning behaviour.
At least four police vehicles responded to the incident at Fencible Walk Park in Picton Street, Howick, this afternoon.
When the Times arrived at the scene the man had been detained and placed inside a police Isuzu light truck.
It’s understood he had been sitting on a park bench at Fencible Walk Park and had made statements that led members of the public to contact police.
The man is expected to be taken to Middlemore Hospital to be assessed.
Police have been contacted for comment.
