The man believed to have gone missing from Auckland Airport several days ago has been found safe and well.

The Times reported earlier today that police and Kory-Dean Wirihana’s family were appealing for information on his whereabouts.

He was due to catch a flight on Friday morning.

Wirihana, 36, was understood to have checked in for the flight from Auckland Airport to Christchurch but did not board the plane.

“His family and police are seriously concerned for his welfare and want to know he’s safe,” police earlier said.

A family member of Wirihana’s posted on social media that he last made contact with them at 4am on Friday.

“He checked in for his flight, cleared security but never boarded it in Auckland domestic.

“He was going to Christchurch for a netball tournament but never arrived.

“His phone has been handed into lost property at Auckland domestic airport as well as his luggage and his car was stolen a few weeks ago so he has no car, no comms, and has literally disappeared from the airport.”

However, in an update posted online at about 7.30pm today, April 20, a relative says Wirihana “has been sighted and is safe”

“Please respect our privacy as we navigate the next steps as a family.

“Thank you all for sharing and helping with finding him.

“Thank you Lord for your protection over him.”
