Grey Power Howick Pakuranga is staging a mayoral candidates’ debate with six of the people in the running to take over from outgoing Auckland mayor Phil Goff set to take part.
This year’s Auckland Council elections are being held in October.
Goff is not standing for re-election so the race is on to find his replacement.
Grey Power Howick Pakuranga president Peter Bankers says the candidates confirmed for the local debate are Viv Beck, Efeso Collins, Craig Lord, John Lehman, Ted Johnston, and Wayne Brown.
Leo Molloy was set to take part also but announced he was withdrawing from the race on August 12.
The mayoral candidates’ debate starts at 2pm on Friday, August 26 at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, 11 Vincent Street, and all are welcome.
