A large number of emergency services have responded to a fatal incident in east Auckland this afternoon.

A reader alerted the Times that police cars and St John Ambulances were travelling at speed toward Musick Point in Bucklands Beach just after 3.30pm.

A police car, an ambulance and a fire truck were seen leaving the area at about 4.30pm.

However, Musick Point Road has been blocked off as of about 4.45pm with orange cones while police deal with an emergency incident.

A police spokesperson says: “One person has died following an incident at Musick Point, Bucklands Beach, this afternoon.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner.”

The course used by Howick Golf Club has not been blocked off and numerous golfers were playing when the Times visited the scene.

Several vehicles travelling along Musick Point Road were forced to turn around.

A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John says the organisation was notified of an incident on Musick Point Road at 3.13pm.

One ambulance, one rapid response unit, and one operations manager attended.”
