A person has died and three others were injured during a violent incident in east Auckland.
Detective Inspector Tofilau Fa’amanuia Va’aelua of Counties Manukau Police’s criminal investigation branch says it happened in the early hours of Sunday morning in Highbrook.
He says three people with serious stab wounds and one person with a serious gunshot wound self-presented at Middlemore Hospital at around 4.30am on Sunday.
Va’aelua says one of the three who presented with stab wounds subsequently died from their injuries.
The other three remain in a serious condition in hospital.
Early enquiries identified the incident took place in a car park off Lady Fisher Place near Highbrook Drive.
Police are in the early stages of an investigation and the scene was cordoned off while an examination took place.
They’re seeking any witnesses to come forward as they work to piece together the exact circumstances of the incident.
