Reeves Road Flyover to enhance community

The latest artist impressions of the Reeves Road Flyover have been released.

The vision is that the four-lane flyover will not only reduce congestion and help the busway function better, but also enhance the community.

Construction of the flyover, which will connect Pakuranga Road to the South Eastern Arterial above Reeves Rd and across Ti Rakau Drive, is planned to begin in 2020 and will take two years to complete.

Once completed, it will provide motorists with an alternative travel routes and will reduce traffic at key intersections and on Pakuranga Road and Ti Rakau Drive by up to 40 per cent according to Auckland Transport.

The reduction in traffic will allow significant improvements to be made to the town centre. This will ensure the economic vitality of the town centre is maintained and enhanced.

Auckland Transport is looking at options for encouraging use of the space underneath the flyover.

This may include retail options, event space and shared pedestrian, vehicle and cycling space.
