Police have charged a teenager following a violent incident in east Auckland.
Officers were called to a location on Botany Road, near Fairway Gardens Village, at about 4pm on Sunday.
A police spokesperson initially told the Times a report had been received of a person suffering an injury to their arm during an alleged assault.
The injured person was said to be in a moderate condition and one person had been taken into custody.
In an update issued today, December 2, police say a 15-year-old will appear in the Manukau Youth Court charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm over the incident.
“Enquiries remain ongoing, however both parties were known to each other.”
The incident sparked discussion on local community Facebook pages, with one witness saying they’d seen four to five police cars at the scene at the time.
Another person said her spouse saw a teenager “covered in blood” while driving past the scene.
