The region’s chief tourism entity is on a recruitment drive for more members in a push to generate greater economic activity.

The area’s official visitor information body, East Auckland Tourism, has launched a suite of membership plans to help stimulate growth from people visiting from outside the region.

The focus is to attract more people from other parts of Auckland, across New Zealand, and international tourists.

East Auckland businesses of all sizes can sign-up to membership plans ranging upwards from $350 plus GST a year.

The timing of the membership launch coincides with a busy time for East Auckland Tourism (EAT), says its chair, Andrew Laing.

Following a recent networking event, where 50 local businesses gathered for a “superb” evening of learning, engagement and networking, EAT is in the process of designing its “coveted” map for 2024-2025.

Using the skills of local artist and topographer Denise Nel, the map is one of EAT’s “key assets”, says Laing.

“It provides local businesses with an opportunity to get in front of thousands of potential customers around the region, including in key tourist hotspots across Auckland.”

The EAT team has also just launched its “new and improved” website, “to help grow the East Auckland region”, work carried out by The Marketing Baker.

“Having a user-friendly online resource for both businesses and consumers, East Auckland Tourism is investing in its digital strategy to help fast-track revenue growth for the region,” Laing says.

“It’s an extremely exciting time here at East Auckland Tourism and we’re thrilled with the momentum the team is having with driving our agenda forward, to benefit our wonderful region.

“East Auckland Tourism is a key driver of revenue for businesses, so we’re excited to launch our membership plans, and new assets to help support the local economy.

“Businesses wanting to grow are now able to use all our digital assets and audience to help them drive revenue.

“We know a lot of businesses are struggling right now, and we’re delighted and privileged to be in a position to be able to help them move forward.”

East Auckland Tourism’s annual general meeting is on Monday, September 2, at The Stables in Whitford, 6-8pm.

All are welcome to attend the free event (subject to capacity), which will provide networking opportunities as well as a fireside chat with EAT treasurer Jono Frankle, Denise Nel, and Quay Gallery owner Nicki Richards.
