Michelle Bailey says she was gobsmacked when she got a call from Botany Town Centre saying she had just won $5000 as part of their Spend and Win campaign.
“I was having a coffee with my husband at home when I received the call from Botany Town Centre. I thought, oh my gosh, I’ve won! I then did a happy dance around the kitchen,” says the Cockle Bay resident.
This month, Botany Town Centre has given Michelle Bailey and Shana Johnson $5000 each as part of their recent ‘Spend and Win’ campaign.
Bailey says the money means an awful lot especially in the times we are facing.
“It brings great happiness and a big sense of solace. When Auckland comes out of lockdown, we can go to the Botany Town Centre restaurants and book in a nice family dinner – a few treats and park some away for Christmas.
“During the last lockdown, some of my family painted all of the walls of our home, so it will be lovely to go out and buy a couple of pieces of new furniture.
“I think it’s great to have the opportunity to enter into initiatives like these. Botany Town Centre is local and in our neighbourhood and it’s nice to know that the money will go back into the community to help locals,” she says.
The other lucky winner Shana Johnson says she feels incredibly grateful, “I thought it is a joke. The gift came at the best time, with growing children and renovations at home, it means we can get the things we need.
“I will be spending the money on household things such as electric blankets, panel heaters, a new jug and toaster, and my daughter’s new bed – the list goes on. I think this is such a wonderful and generous incentive. I mean, who doesn’t want to be in to win?! I know I’m certainly attracted to shop in a place with such awesome rewards” says Johnson.
Kerrie Hughes, centre manager at Botany Town Centre, says, “At Botany, we are always looking for ways to give back to our community. We have received incredible support from our local shoppers, and this is just one way for us to give back to them. We want the community to know we are here to support them and will stand by them during the tough times.”
