People should take caution while walking or driving near large trees around east Auckland due to high winds.
A branch off a mature tree on Stockade Hill in Howick has fallen during the recent wind gusts that have battered the city.
East Auckland appears to have escaped largely unscathed from the damage caused to other areas by ex-tropical Cyclone Tam, which has been moving down the country this week.
The MetService said this morning, April 18: “Things are looking up today across New Zealand compared to yesterday’s weather, however scattered showers are still around, with more expected to develop as the day goes on.
“Heavy rain warnings and watches remain in place for several regions.”
