No longer just in the pipeline, a Watercare project is set to signal a green light (rather than a black flag) for swimmers at Howick Beach.
The popular local spot was marked with a black flag, indicating the water is of poor quality and carries a ‘high risk of illness’. However, recently completed work on Granger Road (in and around Watercare’s large pipe bridge) is expected to greatly reduce the risks of the pipe collapsing, as well as overflows and leaks.
