Have-a-go, win a car, family fun

Howick Golf Club, sited at beautiful Musick Point, is hosting an inaugural Community Fun Day on Sunday March 11.

The golf course will be closed to golfers on the day but open to the community for a day of family fun.

And amongst a host of activities to keep everyone happy, there is also a fantastic opportunity to win a new car.

The club’s secretary/manager Annette Smart said there’ll be something going on for all the family.

“We are opening the course to the local community to come up and have a fun time,” she said.

“There will be some activities with have-a-go golf.

“We want to encourage the people of Howick to think seriously about their health.   Golf is a fantastic way to nurture your health, as well as your wellbeing.

“It’s a great way to keep fit, walking in stunning surroundings, enjoying the views and fresh air, as well as the company of your fellow golfers.”

Families can expect fun activities for the kids, have-a-go golf, a hole-in-one promotion for a car and a sausage sizzle.

“We will be offering a fantastic membership deal for people wanting to join on the day, as well as a raffle with a full playing golf membership as the first prize, plus fun prizes for the kid,” she said.

The Fire Brigade will also be there with one of their vehicles, and St John will be there too.

“We are having a hole-in-one to win a car to cause a bit of excitement — there are terms and conditions (Ts & Cs) around this obviously,” said Smart.

The vehicle is a 2018 Toyota Yaris valued at more than $27,000.

“The Ts & Cs will be put on our website and will explain more about the rules around the hole-in- one competition,” she said.

“It’s limited to a single hit by 105 people so book your turn in person on the day.”
The club is hoping to make the Community Fun Day an annual event.
