Student leaders from east Auckland schools have been collaborating for a number of weeks to organise fundraising initiatives across the region.
In addition to mufti-days and blanket drives, head students and prefects from Pakuranga College, Howick College, Macleans College, Edgewater College, St Kentigern College, Sancta Maria College, Ormiston Senior College, Botany Downs Secondary College and Elim Christian College, along with members from the Howick Youth Council, hosted a Charity Concert on Thursday August 1 to raise money for Mike King’s `I Am Hope’ Foundation—that helps Kiwi kids get free mental health counselling and support.
Featuring music ensembles and dance groups from all nine schools, this was also a great opportunity to showcase young local talent.
There was an amazing turnout, with over 250 tickets sold. Along with a generous donation from Hynds Foundation, the event raised a total of $2450 for ‘I Am Hope’.
