Local authors meet at Classy Crafts

Spring is sprung and with the new season comes the busiest quarter of the year with the Christmas season looming fast.

Here is an opportunity to meet and chat with local New Zealand authors and take the opportunity purchase or order unique Christmas gifts – children’s books personally signed by the authors themselves.

Put a circle on your calendar for September 21 and note the special ‘Meet the Authors’ event at Classy Crafts between 9am – 1pm at the All Saints Community Hall, 30 Cook Street, Howick.

Many visitors to the Classy Crafts market will recall the delightful humour of Gavin Gosney, author of the Sammy Two Shoes series who was a regular stall holder at Classy Crafts for many years. We are delighted to have Gavin and Sammy Two Shoes (Howick’s iconic cat) return to Howick for this special event.

Bring your children along and have a ‘selfie’ and fun with Sammy.

And don’t forget to ask Gavin about his latest project – there is something exciting in the air.

Another engaging author/illustrator Sharon Watson will be also attending. Her recently released book, Slinky the Skink and His Magical Tail is an endearing story which teaches the importance of kindness to others and is suitable for children from three to eight years old. Sharon has another five Slinky stories in the pipeline. Come and listen to her journey as a writer/illustrator and see her fantastic garden sculptures.

Local authors Marilyn J Bakker, Ruth Hammond and perhaps one mystery guest will also be in attendance.

And of course, all the other stallholders will be there with lots of wonderful hand-made, quality crafts from exotic jewelry to beautifully crafted children’s clothing and household items with a touch of class. Come and enjoy.
