Wow, what a brilliant day we all had on Saturday morning, 5th October, working towards beautifying the Howick Village.
It was great to see so many passionate individuals and amazing local community groups who all pitched in, to help at the Town Centre Clean Up!
A huge THANK YOU to all involved, especially the Howick Business Association Manager, Jane Newbury, who generously organised the delicious sizzling sausages and refreshments.
We would like to acknowledge each and every one of the wonderful volunteers, who participated and the many volunteers groups, like the Latter Day Saints (Highland Park), Interfaith Youth Group, Baptist Church, Howick Community Church, Howick Mens Shed Team, Z Station Team, Howick Business Association Chairman Ken Scott and all the international & local students from various colleges across East Auckland. Lastly to Neil Carney – for his master chef skills on the BBQ.
It was great to have Howick Local Board Members Adele White & David Collings, councillor Sharon Stewart and Pakuranga Member of Parliament Simeon Brown, all participating. It was just amazing to be part of such generous collaboration amongst the community.
We had 101 wonderful volunteers, Manukau Beautification Charitable Trust staff and Howick Business Association members, who each donated 3.5 hours of their Saturday afternoon, serving the Howick community. This adds up to 353.5 community service hours generously contributed, to looking after the lovely town centre.
It is truly wonderful what can be achieved when we all work together!
