Duo campaigning on platform of change

Nichola Painter and Vinson Yu are campaigning for seats on the Howick Local Board.

Vinson Yu and Nichola Painter are standing together in the Pakuranga subdivision of the Howick Local Board at the Auckland Council elections, bringing the combined skills required to make much-needed change in this area.

Yu has extensive community engagement experience through his dedicated work as a Justice of the Peace, Howick & Districts Historical Society board member, and his key role with Sport Auckland.

His commitment to the design and implementation of programmes to address the community’s well-being and educate on safety concerns is very much respected.

Painter, having lived and worked in the area for many years, has witnessed a decline in the investment the Pakuranga subdivision deserves.

With extensive local government experience both with local boards and within the council’s operational areas, Painter is admired for her hard work and solution-focused principles through her involvement in the delivery of many key projects within the community.

They share the belief that by strongly advocating for careful spending, and not letting bureaucracy get in the way of decisions that benefit the community, there are many opportunities to enhance and preserve a growing Pakuranga.

They propose to hold Auckland Transport accountable to bring improvements to public transport and road safety, ensuring it’s delivering what the community wants, not what it thinks the community needs.

Preservation of our natural environment can be achieved by working alongside our councillors to ensure sufficient funding is allocated to address the issues, not defer the issues.

They will explore opportunities for more innovative ways to bring forward the delivery of quality community facilities and community-led initiatives, such as community gardens and the activation of our parks and reserves.

Painter and Yu know this can be achieved by providing strong representation on behalf of the community and by fostering inclusion through trust and connections.
