Mike Turinsky is standing in Botany for re-election to the Howick Local Board along with Olympian Bruce Kendall (Pakuranga) under the team “Practical not Political”.

Turinsky is a family man married with two children and looks after his elderly mother.

He’s lived and worked locally since migrating from Alaska in 2004.

Achieving degrees in International Business, Economics, and Management, he ran successful businesses in finance and marketing.

For 18 years, Turinsky has been CEO of a local non-profit trust focusing on youth well-being providing youth mentors to schools.

He personally spends eight hours per week as a youth mentor at Botany Downs Secondary College.

He’s also deputy chair of his children’s school board.

Turinsky has brought energy, expertise, and a strong work ethic to the local board, demonstrating years of commitment to the community.

He feels the pressure many locals are under as many residents believe Auckland Council wastes time and money.

He’s committed to avoid wasteful spending, treating the budget like his own.

He has good working relationships with other elected members and council staff, achieving positive outcomes.

Turinsky is a strong advocate for residents.

He adamantly opposed the sale of reserves/council facilities and the Eastern Busway route through Burswood.

He’s focused on local transport projects, parks/facilities upgrades, illegal dumping/crime prevention, local economic development and local environmental projects.

Turinsky wants council to do the basics well and get the job done.

He works with the local Business Association, ratepayers’ groups, community groups and the Otara Waterways-Lake Trust on rubbish clean-up events and tree planting.

Turinsky robustly advocates for completion of the Ormiston Library/Community Centre, pools, stream improvements, crime prevention, improved public transport, road safety, and retaining our parks and reserves.

Please consider Mike Turinsky for re-election for Botany on the Howick Local Board: Practical not Political.
