Police: Missing 12-year-old located

A 12-year-old girl reported missing earlier this week from Bucklands Beach has been located safe and well, police confirmed today.

Police sought the public’s assistance in locating Maria Mino, who had been reported missing. She had last been seen at her home on Maugham Drive in Bucklands Beach on August 11.

Police believed Maria was most likely with her older boyfriend in the West Auckland, or Auckland CBD areas.

Police issued an update on the situation on Thursday afternoon. A police spokesperson said the missing girl has made contact with her family. Police said at the time, “While we do not have immediate concerns for her safety, we are still concerned she is in the company of persons much older than herself. We would still like to speak with her.”

“Police would like to thank the public for their assistance,” a spokesperson said today.
