Simeon Brown has been selected by local party members as National’s Pakuranga candidate for the 2017 General Election.
Mr Brown currently works as a commercial banking senior associate with the Bank of New Zealand and also serves on the Manurewa Local Board.
“It’s a true honour to be selected as National’s candidate in Pakuranga. I’m passionate about East Auckland and look forward to earning the right to represent these fantastic suburbs in Parliament,” Mr Brown says.

“Families and businesses in Pakuranga are benefiting from this National-led Government’s work to grow the economy, build for future growth, and help people most pressured by change.
“I’d like to thank outgoing MP Maurice Williamson for his long-standing commitment to Pakuranga and the National Party, and wish him and his family the best for the future.
“I will be campaigning hard to give Pakuranga the strong voice it deserves, in a Bill English-led team that will build on the successes of the last few years, with a plan to make Kiwis better off at work and at home, and the means to achieve it.”
The Pakuranga electorate in East Auckland includes the suburbs of Pakuranga, Farm Cove, Bucklands Beach, and Howick. It has been held by National and Maurice Williamson since 1987, and at the last election saw a Party Vote majority of more than15,000.
Mr Brown, 25, lives in Auckland with his wife Rebecca. He studied at the University of Auckland, completing a Law and Commerce conjoint degree in 2015.
Since 2013, he has served on as a Local Board member in Manurewa, holding the role of deputy chair of that Board from 2013-2016.
In 2014, he successfully led the campaign within Auckland Council to ban the sale of synthetic rrugs and legal highs across Auckland, which then resulted in nation-wide law reform.
Alongside his active role in the community, Simeon has been working as a commercial banker with the Bank of New Zealand in Highbrook. This role has given Simeon experience supporting small-to-medium sized business in the South-East Auckland economy.
Outside of politics, Simeon’s interests include spending time with his family, gardening, and playing the clarinet.
