A dozen ‘mince pies’ for the season may not have been enough to earn Razor’s favour, but Hoskins Sotutu’s 2024 statistics have been recognised by Super Rugby Pacific.
A surprising omission when Scott ‘Razor’ Robertson’s named his first All Black squad last week, the barnstorming Blues’ number eight has now earned further laurels, recently confirmed as Super Rugby’s Player of the Year.
Sharing the top of the try scoring table (with Crusader’s wing, Sevu Reece) Hoskins crossed the line 12 times during the Blues’ title winning season, the most by a forward (by a long shot!), as well as clocking up other impressive statistics.
This latest acknowledgment follows a remarkable weekend for Howick’s Sotutu family as Hoskins and his sister, Teuila (netball, Northern Comets), both starred as their teams secured championships.
While the All Blacks take on England from this weekend, Hoskins is expected to star for the Counties Manukau Steelers in the Bunnings NPC, kicking off on August 9.
