Saint praise – St Kents’ All Black, starting role

Tamaiti Williams – former St Kents’ prop

A former Saint Kentigern College star will be looking to stake his claim for regular All Black selection. With seven All Black caps already under his belt, Tamaiti Williams is set to start against Fiji at San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium this Saturday.

Earning his jersey through Canterbury and the Crusaders, the dynamic prop attended Kerikeri High School before winning a scholarship to east Auckland’s Saint Kents. Following solid showings for the Maori All Blacks (five caps) and especially since his All Black debut last year, Williams has impressed fans and selectors alike.

Following strong performances against England, two other former St Kents’ players (Dalton Papalii and Finlay Christie) have not been included, however, as All Black coach, Scott Robertson, appears intent on building experience across his squad ahead of this year’s Rugby Championship.

The full squad is:

1. Tamaiti Williams (7)
2. Asafo Aumua (8)
3. Fletcher Newell (15)
4. Scott Barrett (71) (captain)
5. Tupou Vaa’i (27)
