Today sees the publication of our first issue of the new-look Times.
It follows a positive response to news of the changes announced last week regarding ceasing deliveries to letterboxes and instead using pick-up boxes at multiple locations in the area.
We will also be merging the Howick and Pakuranga Times with sister publication, Eastlife magazine.
The harsh economic climate and post-lockdown headwinds affecting so many small businesses has forced a dramatic strategic look at how we continue to deliver the news to our readers.
After 51 years, deliveries to letterboxes this week stop.
Newspapers will now be made available at pick-up boxes at more than 70 sites in east Auckland
Times Media managing director Reay Neben says the company can guarantee local news content will remain available to all readers and continue to be “the voice of this wonderful community”.
“We are a local business based in Howick employing a team of locals to bring you local news that cannot be found anywhere else,” Neben says.
“Thanks to the continued support of our advertisers, this news is always free.
“Our local news content is in demand,” says Neben.
“The news is in print online and Facebook. Our website times.co.nz has continued to grow with more than 85,000 visits per month.
“This is Howick and we are proud to be part of this exceptional area as a local and the only journal of record – of the east’s history.
“For 51 years we have been the voice of this community.
“With the support of our readers and our retailers, we want to continue that.”
Enjoy the new look.
