There are 3 new cases of Covid-19 in managed isolation to report in New Zealand since our media statement yesterday.

There are no new cases in the community.

A total of 10 previously reported cases have now recovered.
The total number of active cases in New Zealand is now 59. Our total number of confirmed cases is 1968.

The total number of tests processed by laboratories to date is 1,567,952.
On Tuesday our laboratories processed 2845 tests.

The seven-day rolling average up to yesterday is 3750 tests processed.

New border case details

Arrival date From Via Positive test day/reason Managed isolation/quarantine location
28 January 2021 Germany Doha day 12 / routine testing  Auckland
30 January 2021 Tanzania Qatar day 9 Auckland
7 February 2021 United Arab Emirates day 0 / routine Auckland

None of these cases are connected to the managed isolation facility at the Pullman Hotel.
One previously reported case has been reclassified as under investigation.

Recovered cases
The 10 recovered cases to report today includes the previously reported border-related cases B, C and the case we reported on Saturday who was later deemed a historical case.
Case D is the only active case from this group and remains in a quarantine facility.

Historical cases
From this week our updates are including a running total of historical cases to date for 2021.

This is because there is an increasing number of people becoming infected and recovering before travelling to New Zealand. Our testing may detect residual viral material in people’s systems, but it’s important to reiterate they are no longer considered to be infectious.

As we’ve previously stated, an increase in historical cases is not unexpected.
Since January 1, there have been 25 historical cases, out of a total of 158 cases. These historical cases have all been previously reported.
